Generation Citizen is Hiring Interns!

Generation Citizen is currently accepting applications for Program Interns in our Boston and New York offices and for a Program Evaluation Intern in our Boston office. Read below for more information about the positions and how you can be involved.

PROGRAM INTERN

Anticipated Duties (to be guided by intern interest/experience):

Work with the Director of Programming and Program Managers 80% of work hours to:

  • Improve GC’s programming:
    • Help implement and improve GC’s Pipeline Program by establishing and maintaining relationships with external partners and assisting with placement
    • Utilize Democracy Coach and Chapter Director feedback to design and improve trainings
    • Update our internal resources site (a Weebly) to ensure Democracy Coaches and Chapter Directors have top-notch, pertinent content for better action projects
    • Help design systems to improve GC’s data-gathering capabilities, including for our longitudinal study
    • Assist with Civics Day planning and execution

Work with the Managing Director and Development Manager 20% of work hours to:

  • Provide organizational support
  • Collect and edit raw video footage and photos from GC classrooms for use in communications and development materials

Logistical Information:

  • Volunteer position
  • 10-15 hours per week (but flexible)
  • Experience with education, youth populations, out-of-school partnerships preferred

 

PROGRAM EVALUATION INTERN

Anticipated Duties (to be guided by intern interest/experience):

Work with the Director of Programming 80% of work hours to:

  • Evaluate and improve GC’s action civics course:
    • Help design systems to improve GC’s data-gathering capabilities, including for our longitudinal study
    • Assist with pre/post-survey coding, distribution, and collection
    • Analyze and present classroom-specific information about secondary students from their pre-surveys to guide teaching over the semester
    • Analyze evaluation results and make recommendations to improve GC program
    • Write appropriate training materials for mentors and teachers based on research 

Work with the Managing Director and Development Manager 20% of work hours to:

  • Provide organizational support
    • Assist in utilizing evaluation data to inform development and communications materials
