Generation Citizen is organizing a Democracy Education Youth Summit this summer and we want you to join us! We will bring together young people between the ages of 14-18 from across the country for this training and leadership convening, taking place Monday, August 1st – Wednesday, August 3rd in New York City. All expenses will be covered for attendees, but you must apply.
The goal of the summit is to ensure that young people are front and center of the democracy education field by teaching them how and why to be politically and civically active in their institutions and their communities. We want to hear from young people themselves on where they think the field and movement should go. After the summit, we will work to ensure that these young people stay and remain involved as leaders in the field and space, formalizing a Youth Advisory Board for the field itself.
We are hopeful that the summit will bring together a wide-array of young people, from across the country, and from different types of organizations (in-school action civics, youth organizing, youth governance, etc).
We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until Monday, June 27th, 2016. Please contact Advocacy Coordinator, Kayla Johnson (kjohnson@generationcitizen.
