Before coming to GC, Abasi worked as The Senior Development Manager at March of Dimes New York leading their March for Babies and Run for Babies campaigns, and at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society leading their Walk MS campaign. He was instrumental in developing strategies to engage individual and corporate support at both organizations working closely with donors, volunteers and corporate partners.
He holds degrees from Hunter College (B.A. in Psychology) and Columbia University (M.P.A.). He developed a passion for community empowerment when his father would bring him and his siblings to rallies for his union and social justice issues. That passion carried over into High School and College where he became involved in student government. His commitment to community-based organizations led him to work at the Harlem Children’s Zone, Inwood House, Women in Need Inc. and Good Shepherd Services.
Abasi grew up in Washington Heights and now lives in Harlem. He is excited about creating campaigns and new opportunities to support civic education throughout New York. In his free time, he likes to DJ (ask him about some of his club stories), train and practices Jui Jitsu, and travel.
