San Diego Union-Tribune: Is today’s political engagement a fad or the new reality?

How do we reconcile the fact that millions of Americans called their senators to express opposition to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, while millions of Angelenos stayed home, rather than showing their preference for the type of education system they want in their communities? That 750,000 Angelenos showed up for the Women’s March on Jan. 21, the largest number of protesters in the country, and fewer than 300,000 voted?
